Ask HN: Overqualified for a mechani–- LLM-ical turk. Now what?
The other day i had an interview.. about some role requiring deep years in framework X and deep years in framework Y, etc.. And the guy kept rolling me on and off within my experience, and about the end let the cat out of the bag.. that they have designed a very specific workflow in VScode with some LLM extension, to translate their current API backend from X into Y (and on the way turning monolith into microservices), and actually needed "software curators", and i am overqualified for that.
Which i completely agreed.. but there was no time left to tell him that i have been also generating code for soo many years and situations, and one lesson of it is that such code alienates its users i.e. programmers.. which brings problems (apart of the monolith-to-microservices miracle, etc). But anyway.
So now what? Is software/programming considered "solved"? Should i de-qualify, i.e. Cut my cv in half? Switch into "wetware"-servicing (not worth as nurse, seems noone wants mentoring, so.. training in physical activities? or, Quit into "land + oxen + solars" (as someone noted here sometime ago)?
Funny times :)
